Fellowship and Hospitality
Faithful Shepherd is a caring and loving community. We gather weekly in the Family Life Center and for special fellowship events throughout the year to connect in small group and whole congregation events. Some of these special events, like Halloween Trunk and Treat or Christmas Cookie Decorating for the Sienna Francis House, are opportunities to reach out to those in the surrounding community. While other events such as the Annual Chili/Chowder Cook-off are fun ways to socialize and reconnect with friends and family.
The Fellowship and Hospitality committee attempts to incorporate a variety of activities that appeal to the congregation and provide outreach to the community. The congregation and its leadership continue to explore new ways members and friends can join in the life of our church. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the fellowship activities that appeal to them.
Weekly Fellowship
After the church service each Sunday, we have a time to meet and greet friends old and new in the Family Life Center. It's a wonderful way to welcome guests, celebrate an important event such as a baptism, or just enjoy a warm (or cold) beverage. The Fair Trade coffee we purchase through Equal Exchange supports our mission outreach and benefits small farmers.
Food, Fun and Fellowship
Food and fellowship was used throughout the scriptures as a way to share the good news and build a community of believers. At Faithful Shepherd, the Fellowship Committee hosts dinners and breakfasts during the year but none are as popular as the Palm Sunday Potluck or Easter Sunrise Breakfast. Snacks and light meals for Vacation Bible School, Rally Sunday, Fall Festival, and the Christmas program are also supported by the Fellowship group.
Reaching Out to Share God's Love
Fellowship also means caring and sharing with others outside our church community. So events like cookie decorating for local shelters or creating cards for senior centers are great ways for members of all ages to come together for food, fun and fellowship.
